This resource contains all you’ll need to put together an engaging and fun cover lesson or for a change of pace between projects for art and design students in KS 3 or 4. Students will learn about the unique characteristics of this art form, which often blurs the lines between reality and imagination.
Students can work independently with our A4 and A3-sized handouts featuring beautifully crafted illustration work, pre-gridded ready to be transcribed onto the included worksheet. This includes a pre-drawn grid for students to get started and a dedicated space for self-assessment, promoting artistic growth and critical thinking.

A Simple Guide to the basics of a design process, gathering reference imagery, developing a colour pallet, sketching illustrations and logos.
I use this with my year 7s sometimes as a way to embed the basic steps of any art and design project.
I work with them in Illustrator but you can edit those bits to suit whatever media you’re working in.
Take your students from a blank page, through making construction lines, final line work to tonal rendering and final shading with visual examples every step of the way. You can use this resource to guide your students working in traditional media or digitally. Although, please note this is not a guide to using Adobe Illustrator and is not appropriate for beginners in that software.
The resource includes a step by step powerpoint and PDF pages as well as the Adobe Illustrator file the original work is drawn in.
A self contained art and design lesson on exploring patterns and textures in nature.

The resource contains a Power-Point and two sided hand-out for students detailing the lesson objectives. A teacher hand-out, great if you want to use the resources as a cover lesson.

This is a Free annotated video (With no Audio, you’re welcome) guide to drawing Roly from Hey Duggee. I do this with my year 7s as part of our graphics DT rotation. The video is pretty comprehensive, but some familiarity with Illustrator would help, especially when it comes to fault finding.
The video covers using :
Shape Tools
Line Segment Tool
Corner Widgets
Selection Tools
Shape Builder Tool
Eye Dropper Tool
Duplicating shapes
Manipulating Anchor Points (A bit)
When I teach this I usually run through a demo of the process live, then give students access to the video so they can all go at their own pace, working independently, following the annotations.
I’ll be making a payed version of this resource soon with added worksheets, and a teacher video with ways to fix as many student generated errors as I can think of. If you like this free resource please consider purchasing one of my payed ones.
